This past Saturday, I took my three girls and my mother on a train ride to Boston to see Bluey's Big Play! Yes, I could have drove to Boston but I did not want to deal with parking and traffic so we took the Amtrak train from Dover to Boston. For those wondering, it was an hour and a half train ride and it was decently priced. Plus, taking the train gave us the opportunity to spend the whole day in Boston and explore.
The walk to the Boch Center where the show being performed was about 30 minutes. We arrived in Boston at 10:30 and the show wasn't until 2 so we had plenty of time. The walk to the theater takes you right to the Boston Commons and Public Gardens. The Boston Commons has a playground for the kids to enjoy and a carousel when it is operating. The Public Gardens has the statues of the Mallard Duck family from the book Make Way for Ducklings, which children love to climb on. There is a restaurant in the Boston Commons, Earl of Sandwich, which had delicious sandwiches and for a family of 5, was not badly priced. If you go down to Boston for The Freedom Trail, that does go right through Boston Commons and The State House is right there as well.
Now our family went for the sole purpose of seeing Bluey's Big Play, but there is so much to see and do in Boston for any family. Here are just a few things that are within a decent walking distance to the North Station: Museum of Science, which is 5 minutes away, New England Aquarium, which is 18 minutes away, the Freedom Trail, which the tour guide building is 19 minutes away but you can also do the trail yourself and get an app for $9.99 to give you information about the 16 different stops on the trail. I have already mentioned the Boston Common and Public Gardens above. The last place I will mention that you wouldn't walk to from the North Station but could take the T, which is public transportation within Boston, is Franklin Park Zoo.
All five of these places are fun and enjoyable for many but of course you know your family best and can determine which activity they would most enjoy. There is also so much more to do in Boston with all the sights and the shows available to see. Depending on what time of year you come as well will determine what you all might enjoy. Enjoy the photos of my family enjoying the train ride and trip to Boston and feel free to reach out to me to have me help you plan a vacation to Boston or anywhere in New England. #neverlandingtravelbysara #boston #earlofsandwich #blueysbigplay #amtrak #northstation #museumofscience #newenglandaquarium #freedomtrail #bostoncommon #bostonpublicgardens #mallardfamily #makewayforducklings #franklinparkzoo #newenglandvacations #funforall #familytravel #bochcenter
