Family Fun at Point Sebago Resort

Updated: Aug 24, 2023

Point Sebago Resort is in Casco, Maine. It has a golf resort, camping/glamping sites, vacation rentals and

RV sites. It is located on Sebago Lake. My family started our summer off by spending a week in one of their vacation rentals. It was a great way to begin our summer.

This trip was planned with some friends from church that go up to Sebago every year to start their summer off. My husband and I decided to join them this year. We have never visited Point Sebago before but we thought it looked like a fun way to start our summer. Now, we did stay during a week that was non-peak season as kids were still in school but the rates were lower and we could still get the Maine resident discount. We stayed in a water view standard cabin for 6 nights and paid a little over $800, which is not too bad.

The cabin was pretty standard with a double bed in the first

bedroom and a twin over double in the second bedroom. The bedrooms were a bit cramped but we did not spend too much time in the cabins. We had a full bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, dining table and chairs, futon that could sleep 2 more and a television with cable. Our cabin did have a covered deck with patio furniture which was a great place to store our outdoor gear. We did have plenty of cupboard space and a closet to store our luggage and food that we brought. For outside, we did have a picnic table, fire pit and charcoal grill but we did not use that much as we brought a portable propane grill.

The amenities at the resort are nice as they have a large beach with dock plus a few playgrounds for guests to use. They have a sports center, mini golf and an arcade. They also have laundry facilities which we did use and they accept card as well as coins.

For food, snacks and meals, they have The Snack Bar, The General Store, The Sunset Lounge and The Landing. We did get anything at The Snack Bar nor did my husband and I venture into The Sunset Lounge. We did make purchases at The General Store due to forgetting items when packing and things do tend to be a bit expensive so I recommend remembering everything from trash bags and dish soap to all the items you need for your meals. The Landing we did eat at on Friday night as we were packing up to leave in the morning. I will say that the restaurant was loud. Also, it was a bit overpriced in my opinion. My husband's turkey BLT was $16 which for a sandwich, I thought was bit much. Our waitress was also not the greatest as my daughter had piled our baskets that our food came in all together in the middle of the table and we still had to wave her over so we could pay our bill. After all that, we will not be dining at that restaurant when we return.

For our stay, we

were at the beach the majority of the time. My husband brought his kayak and my oldest and I each had our paddle boards. The water was great for those in the morning as it was nice and calm. Unfortunately, in the afternoon, the water got a bit choppy so we stuck with just playing and swimming in the water. For the first part of the week we were over at the beach by the lagoon which is very rocky. Water shoes were a must for my kids in that area. The second half of the week, we were over at the public beach which has nice, soft sand and a dock to jump off. In my opinion, I preferred the softer beach over the rocks and for next year's stay, I reserved a cabin on that beach.

Now of course, it would not be a nice beach vacation without some rain. Thankfully, we brought games to play and the kids got to experie

nce the arcade during the rainy times as well. Also, the resort had played activities everyday from movies to games which was a nice option to have but we did not take part in them this time around. The resort does have an app to keep track of their activities which is always nice that way you can be notified and not miss out.

One thing I must warn you about are the critters. Now the ducks are everywhere and are not something to worry about. There are woodchucks all over the resort as well and if you leave anything out, they will find it. They also might make themselves home under your cabin and wake you up in the morning. The last critter we saw was a skunk so also be aware when out at night and clean up all food and trash.

Overall, my family had a blast and cannot wait to go back next year. We were able to book our cabin for next year before we left.
